New project: a simple track cleaner

I don't need to clean the track for electrical pick up, but just to save time clearing leaves, twigs and other things that can cause rolling stock to derail.

So I've had an idea of a simple electric motor to drive a brush to sweep away the debris. I bought an IP Engineering flat bed truck at the Peterborough show and a few axels and cogs off eBay. The picture below is the final product.

On the test track all works well :D will give it a run this weekend and then try and work out a way of dressing up the wagon a bit.

Neat job! You might find you'll need a stronger drive band, though. I found a source of large O rings on eBay - or (for a price) MotionCo will make you one to size - http://www.motionco.co.uk/index.php?rou ... round_belt

PU belts are fairly easy to join if you have a soldering iron handy. Available from RS:
