Criccieth Castle vs Accucraft Baugley

Hello Folks,

I'm looking at a good quality, viable diesel locomotive for my future railway. I currently have an Accucraft Baugley but I must admit I'm not completely happy with it. I'm looking at Roundhouse's Criccieth Castle instead - what are these like? Any available out there?

Thanks

Chris

I actually have both, and must admit my preference is to go for Criccieth Castle over the Baguley as it is somewhat more robust, and also has full lights and sound. The earlier plastic chassis Baguleys are a bit fragile, no idea what the metal chassis ones are like though.

I have both also, but the build quality of the Criccieth Castle is I find much higher, very robust, very weighty and powerful, although the Accucraft Baugley is very nice too and is somewhat cheaper, so it's perhaps understandable why one is better than the other

We've had both running and "Cricc" is definitely the heavyweight.
The Baguley is still a capable hauler, so I guess it depends on personal preference? Whether you want a cheap diesel or a tank...

Please don't get the 2 Accucraft Baguley's mixed up.

One has a solid brass chassis with metal conrods and "pulls like a train" for want of a batter phrase.

The other has a plastic chassis and generally red plastic con rods and is lightweight and hardly pulls the skin off a rice pudding.

All the current chassis are brass and the plastic ones have not been sold in many years as they were replaced by the V2 metal body.

I have both of these and they are in a different league to each other  :thumbleft:
