Managed to get another drive down to Hampton Loade as the weather was good the weekend before last...

Ffestiniog contingent out in force...
Image

Mountaineer
Image

Image

Longest IoM train yet...4 Pairs and three 4-wheelers...
Image

Image

A line up of the main runners - Ffestiniog, Vale of Rheidol and IoMSR...:D :D
Image

More of Vixen with the long IoMSR express. Got to say, I was impressed with the haulage capacity against Hampton Loade's steep gradients - then I remembered something key: although heritage chassis, it was fitted with all modern cylinders etc :)

Taliesin and Mountaineer doubleheading... one for all you prototypical purists..;)
Image

Image

Image

Another fillup of Vixen...
Image

All three main runners...
Image

Up The Junction...
Image

Image

This is just how long and how much stock was on the Ffestiniog doubleheader...!
Image

Both long trains out in force for a change...
Image

Some Standard Gauge steam - newly restored Pannier 7714 doing the honours...
Image

Image

Video work?
Image

Diesel Shunt...
Image

Ffestiniog Train strolls by...
Image

Vixen again...
Image

Image

Two ELR Quarry Hunslets came out to play next!
Image

In tandem with the IoMSR rake...
Image

Image

Image

More Quarry Hunslet action..
Image

Image

Image

Up close shot of ELR QH
Image

Image

Final train, back to Douglas...
Image

Image

Multiple movements...
Image

Busy Yard shot...!
Image

All three lines engaged - Vale of Rheidol, Isle of Man and Quarry Hunslet action simultaneously. These are my top three narrow gauge favourites, so to see this occurance was bliss indeed!
Image

Vale of Rheidol :D
Image

Image

Another busy yard - three in steam
Image

Image

Runaway Hunslet...
Image

Image

Final Wrap -- at about 4pm, we closed up as heavy rain came in to stop play.

Image

Although a damp day, it'd been an enjoyable and easier than last time drive out, and I managed to get 'Vixen' a good running in after so long in winter storage :)

Excellent photographs of some beautiful stock items there. I'd love to see them on my line when you're passing!!!

Thank you Peter, would be more than happy to steam her up when passing - where is passing to you though, and will you be at Llechfan Gala this year? Plan is to bring Vixen, her IoM rake [as an intruder on all the typical Welsh NG that arrives] plus the new guns. ;)

Hi Doug, you would be welcome now you are independently mobile you might venture this far south-west. When is the Llechfan Gala Day this year? I enjoyed the visit last year and our brief meeting. Please post details on the Forum and perhaps we can encourage more members to go?

How far is this southwest? Still sort of spreading my wings - a 2h 50min run west coast run knackered me, but today a 1hr 15min from Butterley to home was aokay. :)

Llechfan Gala is Saturday July 1st to Sunday July 2nd this year - I know as it's on a long weekend for me [as is Pboro, Llanfair and Elsecar - -keekekekeke]

Closer to time I can put up a shout out on the meets forum. :) Plan however is to take the Isle of Man rake and loco this time -a Manx invasion to all the usual Welsh NG fare that turns up
