Afternoon Playing Trains
Re: Afternoon Playing Trains
I was able to get out and have a play at Peter Butlers railway this afternoon, the first time in over 18 months. It was also the first time I had run any 16mm stuff in nearly a year.
Boaz, with a rake of empty and recently refurbished tippers.
The tippers back in the natural habitat.
A few shots of the up oil train going through.
Afon Glaslyn on the afternoon passenger.
Down oil train heading towards the quay.
Journeys end.

Re: Afternoon Playing Trains
Nice photos, good to see steam on Peter's railway.
"What the hell is that?"
"It's a model icebreaker sir."
"It's a bit big isn't it?"
"It's a full scale model sir....."

Always a pleasure to have you over for a visit Jim.... other than that the railway gets very little use.
The best things in life are free.... so why am I doing this?
Re: Afternoon Playing Trains
All lovely pictures, well done to both Jim and Peter. I especially like the shot of the loco behind the chapel. Even though the village isn't finished yet, it just looks so real and it is going to produce some really evocative shots eventually.
I also love the way that Peter has terraformed the landscape at the top LH corner, you could be forgiven for thinking that it is real Welsh scenery!! . Mind you, the fence could do with being draped with Rik's camo netting, I think.

Re: Afternoon Playing Trains
I just love to see Peter’s line anytime with whatever is running on it…it always gives me inspiration whenever I see. Hopefully not too far into the future, I also will be able to have a run on it, along with Anne of course….

Great shots Jim. I too like that shot by the chapel. Gives a feel for how the townscape will look.

Terrific photos Jim! Especially like the shots behind the chapel and along the quay.
Re: Afternoon Playing Trains
Thanks for the kind words.
The thing I like about Peters line is that at no point can you see the entire track layout. The trains seem to move from cameo to cameo and you don't really notice the short distances involved and there is a definite feeling of the train moving through the landscape. Over the years I have been visiting the trees and undergrowth have grown enough to hide bits of the layout so there is very little feeling of going round and round in circles, even though you are. I am particularly impressed with the shot of the train running past the rear of the chapel, if the chapel was facing the railway it would not look nearly as good.

Re: Afternoon Playing Trains
It was a lovely afternoon and Jim's pictures show the railway off well. I am grateful to him for posting and for the positive response from you all.
Today it is showing signs of the weather drying up and the sun is shining. I now have more castings from Cain and can continue with the village installation.
