Roundhouse will be revealing their next loco on January 1st on their website; anyone have any clues, hopes, wishes (sensible ones!), etc to share with us?

Snowdon ranger maybe? It would essentially be an inside framed Beddgelert with different bodywork

Unfortunately no secrets, they keep their cards close to their chest even for us traders!

I'm going to go outlandish here, but I'd love a verticle boilered loco, as per their very early Victoria model...I wonder if they'd ever do that...

A Basic loco bit one that fits the Ffes/TR/Corris loading gauges. Their Bertie is more like a 2ft6in loco.

I recall them doing a survey on FB in november 2015 whether they should announce at the beginning of the year or at the 16mm AGM.

I'm not really in a position to be buying a steam loco, so my opinion should count for very little, but I'd love to see Carrie make a come back. Even if it were based on the Katie chassis without the Hackworth valve gear, an 0-4-0 wing tank loco with outside frames would be lovely.

I'd also love to see what Roundhouse could come up with in 7/8ths scale, although I notice that IP Engineering have pulled their 7/8ths stock from the website, and Mike's Models 7/8ths pages are looking a little bare these days, so I wonder if this scale hasn't proven as popular as people thought it might be?

Probably seeing a bit of retrenching to traditional scales like 16mm. The large scale market in the states is flat with little to no new items. Prices for other brands of Asian produced live steam have risen sharply in the last couple years and models have moved in the Aster level of pricing and size. I have no clue which way RH will go with a new model. Most of what I would like to see has been done, I would just like to have a RH version for the dependablity and parts support. Love to see an engine like the old Merlin Monarch or Mayflower but with RH running gear and boiler. Such classic 16mm looks with those engines. Love to see a Earl or Countess by them, Pearse had piston valve cylinders, and not impressed with the quality for the $$ with the Asian brands. How about one of the smaller C&M engines to compliment the old Argyll and Atlantic? Or move into the continental market with one of the Harz or Austrian engines? I am sure it will be something special as the mundane will do nothing to spur sales in the current market. I was looking at getting an old Mayflower, but on this side of the pond, parts availabilty and good long term quality won out, so I went with the second hand Argyll over the smaller Mayflower. Also love to see RH drop the prices on the kit engines, its under $100 differance between kit and RTR on my side of the pond. Doesn't make the kits very enticing with the soldering and painting required. I have built one, loved it, but for the very little price differance, I would just wait till I could afford a factory painted model. Anxiously awaiting the first of the year! Mike

I have 3 of the IP Engineering kits in 7/8ths , good value for the money. The kits were withdrawn for reasons I won't go into here.
Too bad , I liked them very much.

Depends entirely up to you which you'd rather do, (I'm sorry, here comes a shameless plug) here Derails we offer free postage and other incentives so it's slightly cheaper to buy off us as opposed to direct from the factory but we get the same loco at the same time, but still, it's up to you. We'll have them listed for pre-order when the order book opens at the 16mm show
