Had a visit from a member of another forum today. Heres some photos of our little running session. the loop worked well but it was painfully clear i need to get onto scrachbuilding some larger radius points to make the loop curves bigger and the loop itself longer. if i put the junction in for the extension we could also do some bi-directional running (cos that never ends in disaster!

Steam tram goes on its maiden run with new batteries (while i was up at 2am in the morning fixing the 4-6-0 he was up at 2am in the morning fixing the steam motor!)

Many of the Baldwin steam trams ended up in industrial service after they were cast off from the Sydney tramway system. Here his loco poses for a shot with some wooden tippers

Melbournesparks very kindly brought his track scrubber which meant i was able to run some other track powered stock once he left! Heres a shot of no.9 the saddletank on a short trip train

Next the saddle tank was rostered on the same run while no.9 was out of service

Nice pictures and reassuring to see you get lots of leaves to contend with. Our camelia seems to be on a mission to keep my tracks covered with dead flowers or leaves. Not good for an evergreen!

thanks mate! the camellia is a terrible choice and if it didnt look so pretty when it flowers would be swiftly removed! Im trying to come up with a smart idea for some kind of shadecloth but ive come up short so far

You've got some lovely planting there. It's clearly been well chosen and is becoming nicely established. I look forward to seeing more.

Some more random shots of the railway, #14 is a fairly standard bachman big hauler that I've converted to RC using bits out of an RC car. I started to convert it to be a bit more Australian but I've ultimately decided to start converting it to be a bit more like the Western Australian Government Railways Ca class and thus there probably wont be many more photos of it in its current guise! Here are some more photos from various running sessions over the last week.

Image working on my version of the westcoaster, I have 3 of the newquida cars that are half converted and a few flatcars to work on, all I need now is the ASG!

That steam tram and trailer look very nice, I could easily be swayed by trams, but I must be strong!!!! and stay focused.

Its a gorgeous little loco, although made from spare bits he had its well detailed and the hand lining and operating side panels have a lot of charm. with an LGB Stainz mech under it and RC it also runs incredibly.
Come on grant, a cast off Baldwin tram motor would fit right in with your stock ;)

That electric steam loco you have runs very smooth, what is it?

Its a 5th gen bachmann 4-6-0 thats had its cab painted with a window panelled out and a modified running board, the reason its running so smooth is it has the RC out of a toy car running it (no dead spots) and with 7.2 volts its top speed is just about right for some sedate running

Another update, prototype aluminium bar point has failed miserably so back to the drawing board. Once i get some cash back post christmas ill invest in some brass rail and try again.

Last night I borrow my brothers camera and attempted some artsy shots...

Well its been a few years but the railway is still going! Since I last posted I've been converting most of the stock to Deltang RC and also started the extension.

The railways first engine #14 has been extensively rebuilt with low running boards, a new 10th anniversary chassies and a good repaint to make it somewhat more Australian still needs handrails refitted and some bugs worked out in its electronics.

The lines new boxcab D1. a lovely model with probably the most tractive effort of anything ive seen in the scale besides an LGB M car. Needs some more work this photo was taken on an ex workshops test run after it lost RC signal and ran off the end of the high bridge breaking both bogie mounts, buffer beams and most windows out of it!

An in progress TGR V class (very similar to a BR 04 class drewery) this is the prototype with the photo taken right before this one also fell off a high place and broke in two!

Porter #8 runs a minerals train. The ruling gradient of 1:30 can clearly be seen here behind the train. its quite steep but was necessary to get the elevation drop needed.

The beginning of construction. the bridges are built from recycled plastic tomato stakes with Jarrah deck planking screwed in on top. in time im hoping i can grow some english box and other plants underneath to hide some of the uglyness

Garbage photo but at least you can clearly see the elevation drop. Ive been trying to put in a photo of my favourite place which is right behind the loop over the whole extension but the forum isnt playing ball. If you'd like to see a better write up on the extension check my blog out

Hi Jake, very impressive line, although it would frighted the life out of me running any trains over your line. I am not going to say anything about the lack of something to protect your stock, I will leave that for others to put their penny’s worth in.

Love your locos however, real shame that the TGV R class fell off and broke in two, it looked a terrific loco. Your’e rolling stock looks brilliant too.

I have looked on your’e Blog, it tell’s a great story of your build, those curves look so realistic.
Can you do a video by any chance.

Keep up your’e excellent job on the line…I want to see more please. :thumbright: :thumbright:

Welcome back Jake!

When you lost RC signal how far away from the loco was the Tx? You can set Deltang up to stop if you lose signal.
