The lineside workers soon got the line cleared and full service resumed quickly for the rest of the season. :thumbright:

Lucky though, it could have been much much worse, lucky no one was injured. :)

Wonderful photos. You've turned a (near) tragedy into a triumph there!

Thanks Aaron,
Now just have to wait until all the sawdust from the chainsaw blows away before I run an oily steam loco, battery for a bit I suspect.

Oh dear Grant now that is a pickle!

Seems a shame to lose all that lovely shade but I must say the town does look particularly lovely in full sun. Getting away with no damage like that id say its a good time to buy a tatts ticket

LNR wrote: Thu Apr 04, 2024 9:23 am Well having survived the depression and with passenger numbers increasing, the LNR management have decided to order a new loco (currently being built as we speak) however the weather has thrown a spanner in the works with a severe storm bringing trees down and completely blocking the main line at the entrance to Nayook. Luckily not a single piece of infrastructure was damaged however there is a massive clean up to be conducted and of course no trains will be running until all is clear.

Sorry to Hear Grant, glad to see trains are running again. look forward to seeing what your new loco will be !

Well, I am a great admirer of Grant's work but, in this instance, I did mean the little plastic chap...

Ain't that the truth!

I'm so glad that things survived Grant. If anyone could turn the calamity into a photo opportunity it is you - and what a fantastic job you made of it. :salute:

Time to get a man with a chipper in.
In some ways I can see an advantage in the lack of tree cover over Nayook, no bird s*** all over the buildings, and no leaves to be forever cleaning up. Might not feel the same next Summer though.
Grant.

Those wood piles would make for some great wood smoking on a barbecue or a wood burner in the house, even wood chipping like you say your could be getting a chipper in, would help in combating the weeds or (sorry Grant I can't think of the word I need)... angry9:.. Anyway they would come in useful for something or someone hey. :thumbright:

That word has just come to me.....Landscaping...

OK I'm putting a new loco together as hinted to recently. I would like to include all the features I have wanted, but due to my impatience with previous builds have not included.
So time for a guessing game!

Whatever it is, it's beautifully engineered.
Some sort of manifold ..... for oiling maybe?

The screw on the end looks like it could be for attaching a handle, so does it have some kind of valve inside? The symmetrical nature of the dual outlets suggests it might connect to something that's the same on both sides, like cylinders maybe. (I don't know much about steam locos, but I'm pretty sure they have cylinders... right?)

I'll have to give you the cupee doll for that Drew.
Yes with the piston in the forward position the cylinders exhaust up the stack, the rear position directs it to two outlets facing forward under the cylinders to represent cylinder drains. It's actually a design from a sadly passed friend Jock D here in Australia.
Grant.
