Sad news to report the passing of Barry Reeves, of the Pilgrim Locomotive Works . He was one of the few people who have successfully made Live Diesel Locomotives successfully on a commercial basis. A sad loss to the hobby.

Barry, who described himself as a SongWriter and Musician, had been pretty poorly for some years, making modelling, preaching and guitar difficult.

His last message to me, some five years ago, included:
"with a lot of help from Ginger Byrne the long awaited Steam Electric has run several loops of Ginger's track. It works and but for some plumbing is finished. Other than a body!"
If anyone is interested, the recipe was Roundhouse boiler and cylinders + a stepper motor as generator and rectifiers + two RG7 coreless traction motors with high-efficiency gearboxes.

Barry came by the Modular Layout at Peterborough to check out his old Pilgrim Merchant Diesel Electric, which I picked up at the show. He seemed well, and in good spirits. Had stocked a workshop, with a view of starting production again. My last contact with him was an electronic Christmas Card, this last Christmas.
