Last working prior to Christmas Eve

Post by Keith S » Fri Dec 25, 2015 12:46 am

I was shovelling snow away from my back step when I had the good fortune to see a train loaded with Christmas goods come through my garden. I was able to get some photographs of it as it stopped to take on water.

Very clever Keith, nicely done and hope you have a Merry Christmas. Did she start life as a Billy then?

Yes sir, that's my "Billy"-same one I've had all along. There isn't much difference- I just snipped off the coal bunkers and made a new front sheet with circular specs. It took about twenty minutes at the sheet metal shop at work to make the new front sheet and snip off the bunkers, and then about an hour's work at home to solder on the spectacle rings. The cab was only off for about a day.

I judge the locomotive is still a "Billy", just a little different sort of a "Billy". I got the idea from Mr. Foster from Japan, who built a coal-fired "Billy" with a "Katie" cab.

Merry Christmas, Doug.

I have, thank you Brian. My wife is away visiting her family and I had a bit of a lonely morning to be honest, but I played Father Christmas in the afternoon and delivered some gifts to my friend's children, and then had a nice dinner with some friends and received a telephone call from both my brothers, so in the end I had a nice Christmas.

I hope you had a good Christmas too.

Yesterday was a Family Day, today I followed traditioh and went into the workshop to build something - see new thread "Indian Stock" which I'm going to start in a minute or three.
