Nothing a willow likes than a heavy pruning.....this had all its 8 to 10 inch thick branches cut off 4 years ago....careful where you put your off cuts as they will shoot as well!

By HECK Derek, didn’t know they are that flipping bad. May have to see the Landlord about getting rid of it altogether…..This is the one in our garden……..

The land rover should actually run on fresh air Mr Tom. A good old Airfix Shaun the sheep model (complete with mad pigs!), they are slightly overscale but as my tummy is overscale it'll hopefully look ok. I also have the tractor and anti pesto A35 van to build at some point. A guy down the road has a series two land rover with a white roof and noticed this morning my cab back should be white. It has a pre 62 Gloucestershire registration so may steal the number for this one, noticed that eBay offers numerous tamiya lorry number plate retailers.

Onwards and upwards with that willow Rod! Ours had grown so wild that on cutting it back we had to leave a chunk of branch that had grown around the phone line! It's still there, looking like a speared bird. Ours gives a nice shady spot but hate mowing amongst the trailing "branches".

Enough gardening, time to find the white rattle can.

Seeing those weeping willows makes me glad I don't have any trees in my garden!

A chance trip to Gloucester market and his lordship returned with a 2 month old Land Rover, should come in handy on the estate. Still awaiting the wing mirrors but Mrs B at work so what is a man to do?

Just some subtle mud splashes behind the wheel arches would be appropriate.

A touch of rain and a peeky wife gave me time to brandish the razor saws. Always felt the "doorways" were a little narrow and I would like to add roof supports in the entrance and midway along the body (inside). Some .8mm basswood is on order to replank the outside. I may need some outside verticals to shore up an inward leaning end.

Fair play to the builder the chassis has withstood some rough handling as I hacked away in the rain.

All this planned height makes me feel it high time Fairway had a van of some description. So many projects, so little time...

Well, some of the doubters said wood woodn't work ....and they were right. Whilst helping my 2 year old grandson dig up my ballast I noticed the first bit of wood warp. At least it lasted 8 weeks Harvey the grandson had already knocked the doors off the "house" using it as a garage so a complete overhaul needed. Face, bovvered? Nah, just learning

Thats a shame Derek, it looked good, but chalk it up to experience and lesson learned, albeit the hard way!

That is such a shame as we all enjoyed the build process so much, and it does look wonderful, but we have to take the exterior conditions into account. The climate here is such that we have to find alternative materials which will have a life expectancy of more than eight weeks. I would certainly be most upset if my efforts lasted such a short time. At least you have the pictures and the experience to look back on. Better luck with mark 2.

Thanks guys. It was always a bit catch 22 in that I didn't think a small build would be a test for the build process. Using foamboard on its own wasn't so good either needing a lot of reinforcement. Tempted to make it a corrugated shed to salvage something. Tis only a toy!
