Ok so its taken me a little longer than a week to update this but work, Evans 1st birthday/christening and our wedding anniversary have gotten in the way, as well as a general tidy up of the garden and garage.
So back tracking abit……
Dads Hunslet and my VoR testing the completed circuit:
The completed block work for the triangle before the last working day:
By the end of the working day the slate had been bedded in well, some planting had taken place and log roll had been placed along the front of the blocks after Mike “re-deployed” some that was going spare. Big thank you to all involved, Mike and dad doing some sterling work with the slate. Also a big thank you to them both for the slate that mike provided that he no longer needed and the use of dads wallet to pick up some more chunks from the garden centre:
On the afternoon of the last working day we found that the track was prone to splitting due to it having very few pins in it. I then spent an evening pinning all the points and putting pins in every other piece of track. 1” panel pins seem to go into the blocks fine and hold the track with a nice bit of float in it, even through the few sunny days we’ve had there has been no twisting or buckling of the rails. Dads Baguley had arrive to be converted to digital RC and was used to work the engineering train (once id got used to the Brian Jones speed controller):
A gentleman who used to be a regular at the Winster Valley has been having problems with his kit built Lady Anne after she had a heavy fall at the Admiralty light railway last year. At this years get-together Robert asked me if I would take it home to have a look at her. A few minor adjustments and she was ready for a test run, seen here after leaving Abbey works (Shrewsbury Abbey being the station next to the garage):
Gareth called around mid-week to give his Leek & Manifold a run after his running turns at Welshpool, Roberts Lady Anne getting another test run:
I picked up some more log roll the other day to finish of the edging in front of the blocks and Ffi went around deciding where she wanted some of the plants putting. Sorry these photos where taken through the patio doors one day before I left for work. There’s been a few more plants place around since these shots:
We’ve made a flower bed by the garage door, this will become a little more scenic and have a couple of buildings in it along with the area in the middle of the triangle:
And finally a new lap record was made of the raised circuit of 6.15.…… minutes! By my phoenix look alike battery loco. Unfortunately whist entertaining Evan as he watched it very slowly trundle around the garden she suffered a gearbox failure. So now it will need rebuilding, something I’ve been meaning to do for a long time, it might be able to pull the side off a house but it would take it a week to do it:

Thanks guys,
It's nice to have something to run in the garden and Ffi is alot happier now it's not just a row of blocks at the bottom of the garden. Haven't had much time to get out there and do anything lately. The garage roof has needed some sections replacing so that it's water tight to allow me to set up a work bench area, so thats taken most of my time and budget lately.
Doug, my SL3 is quite happy trundling around so it seems to be ok.
Shane, I think of it more as reclaiming days spent working on their railways lol.
Next project I'm working on is a turntable to go in Abby station, I'm possible thinking a lazy Susan with a concrete surround.
