To dig up a dead thread...
That was going to be a guards van but we never found another person to weld it up.
Any way - back to the present day. I've been constructing a body for a 4 wheel wagon I bought. This will be my achilles' tender...
Its been made of 2cm square wood battons and will have ply sides just like the carriage. The container will hold water for the injector (there will be a filler tube to the rear). I'd like this tender to hole extra coal and all the tools required for a steam up including blower and battery (it may be a tight squeeze). As to looks, I was thinking of going a bit Sian and Katie with it...
The seat is recycled from the original wagon and will be covered with a black letherett type material.

The loco is an achilles, its not an LBSC design it is one of Dick Simmonds'.
As my dad is selling his hours the WR is likely to be a portable set up I take to other people's gardens until such time as I can afford my own house! The achilles is ok. Its now got an injector fitted. I've got to do some work with the drain cocks (could never get the damn things to seal) and the lubricator as well as possibly some new packing in the pistons. The chassis was good value at 70 pounds second hand. It has sprung axle boxes, buffers and draw gear and some brake gear that wants fitting up.

I've been working on the tender
First I made up a cardboard mock up (I had trouble finding some card - seems to be the sort of thing I store up for ages, then have a clear out just before I REALLY need it!) to get the curves right - it needed to match the height of Madge's bunker but also be tall enough to sit on in comfort and look elegant. In the end I went for Sian/ Katie style curves which I think look rather good.
Then it was too the jig saw with some 5mm ply wood and then the sides and back were attached to the frame with screws. I did mean to use wood glue as well but I forgot...
Just needs more internal panels and a lot of sanding down and filler-ing before painting to match Madge...
