Shame, it seemed quite a cunning idea. A tasteless diorama could be quite fun - and a coffin could make a nice load for a pair of Binnie bolster wagons. (Speaking of which, I need some bolster wagons for this year's rhubarb traffic, if the line is built in time.)Mr. Bond of the DVLR:46585 wrote:No no, its nowhere near the correct answer, (a nice idea for next years MOTY though...)

I am amazed there is no mention of the DVLR in Snapes official history
Thank goodness Mr Bond has the good sense to document it.

Bravo that chap!how about malted barley
Yes, these are bulk transporters of barley from Woodbridge to Snape.
Woodbridge, in its time was the grain capital of Suffolk! There's a huge grain shed near Woodbridge station and the whole infrastructure is built around grain and horse and cart to transport it. Of course we see no grain traffic in Woodbridge nowadays...
Snape Maltings is the railways other terminus. So barley was poured in through the hatches in the top and was taken straight from Woodbridge to Snape where it was unloaded through a chute in the tracks, the notch in one end is to accommodate the lifting equipment and it all pours out the end. Then the empty malt sacks are removed from the "lofts" and filled with malt for transporting back to Woodbridge. The side doors are used for the loading and unloading of sacks. So there you have it. Now to get cracking building them!

OK hancockshire, enough of the gaugeism thank you. The malt wagons were to wide to produce in 32mm.
I've got alot of plastic rivets to stick on, painting to do, assembling or undersides, plumbing in the braking, varnishing, weathoring, making of loads etc to do before april though!
