It's a long time since:
a) I found a bargain on eBay
b) I bought a lottery ticket

I can only assume that, as it was collection only, it discouraged bidders. I can't believe though, that the many garden railway modellers in and around London didn't bother to place bids.

Holy hell. I've been looking for halfway-affordable track for years. About time someone got a bargain on track. 8)

Revamped the layout slightly and now fixed the track in place. I might tweak it once I've tried using it in earnest.

Is that a single slip or just a diamond crossing, for the line coming from the sheds to the goods sidings?

It's a double slip. I was originally going to use it on the bay road but, once I'd bought it found it was R2, I decided it might be problematic for bogie coaches. I then did a bit of thinking and put it as an link to the original cattle dock siding which I felt might make shunting even more interesting.

Ah right I see, fair enough. Double slips are fun but also a pain to remember which way is correct!

My Dad & I had one on our 00 layout and I got confused by it every single time  Can't wait to come along at some point if I'm still invited, although I'd like to talk about my two friends coming along as well if possible (we'll do that in private messages).

Now relaid the track at the Copper Mine and managed to include an additional siding.

Looking very nice there Rik, always good to have more shunting options! I can't wait to do station pilot duties on the NGRS modular layout, should be a fun day and I hope to see many of the GRF members there hopefully! :)

Can't go wrong with another siding.
I've not really considered having such a dense yard in a future setup, but looking at your track layout, (sans ballast, buildings etc) I can see the operating options it would provide..

That's excellent work Rik - especially if you've done it all with the two forks, spade and trowel in the picture! ;)

Seriously, it's nice to see the phoenix rising.

Never seen the point of a screwdriver that can only be used to remove screws....... I prefer the bidirectional sort for my carpentry.

Sadly, 'Yankee screwdrivers' are no longer made and I have to get by with a ratchet screwdriver. 8)

I'm sure my dad had one in his toolkit which is buried somewhere at the back of his garage. Now my mum has gone, it's time I cleared out the clutter and investigated. I remember, as a teenager, finding it fascinating. Of course my most used screwdriver now is electric.

Let us not forget the double-headed adjustable spanner. One side metric, one side imperial....
