Thanks for that info, I've never really had the chance to examine a Mamod in detail you see

With the rear pony truck, I was really thinking more from an aesthetic point of view. My own experience is that pony trucks are useless on 16mm locos; if anything, my Russell actually runs better as an 0-6-0 because the trucks don't actually carry any weight and just keep derailing! But IMHO she looks a little odd without them...
