Needs wheels replacing!!!! I hope I dont get asked to do that again!!CCairns wrote:Yes I'm struggling to get an MSS reverser/regulator to work on an SL1K. Looks like another quality control issue, just the same as Mamod experienced prior to the cessation of their original Railway system.
Is the Saddle Tank not fixable then?

Ah, another loose wheel syndrome.
I currently have some success using a thread lock/torque seal putting these wheels back together, but it does involve using mole grips to prize the wheels off the axle first.
I suggested to Alan (Dream Steam) to ask MSS to use torque seal/thread lock when they build these wheel sets. Lost count of how many people have posted this problem now online and I'm almost finished fixing the wheels for the Mike Chaney modified Mamod (4th addition here - http://gardenrails.myfreeforum.org/about475.html ). I will probably get some steel replacement wheels to compliment the rest of the upgrades but would like to get it running again first - it struggled today with a borrowed set of wobbly wheels from another rebuild.

I don't know what it is, but these dont use IP budget chassis anyway. The gears are not worn, and no signs of it yet. The noise is amplified in the rear compartment... In the flesh, it sounds like a proper engine anyway lol so Im not bothered.SillyBilly wrote:I enjoyed that Pete, but there must be sumat seriously wrong with your gears, none of my I.P budget chassis sound that bad.
