Probably the same people who think Mamods aren't worthy of any recognition.

The fact that I have (up untill now) not been allowed to build my railway in the garden... Instead on shelves. I dislike the cheque book modelling and snobery of gauge 1 (why I originally moved to 16mm scale) oh and when stuff breaks having to further fix or shell out for it.
I really dont like the LGB sound and colours. Also my grandad's leave it as factory condition never modify attitude (he is a collector)

Yes, that is why I find Gauge 1 to be fairly 'closed shop'. Although I must thank one of the guys at Amberley who does Gauge 1 as he gave me a spare G1MRA 2010 calendar which is very good quality.

Many Guage 1ers are very nice people- my firend David builds all his locos out of scrap and they run beutifully too. Just the impression I got was that you have to have alot of money or skill. Of cource mainline trains blasting round with full length carriages are brilliantly spectacular but the attitude that goes with them in general is what I do not like.

Driverless engines and scale speeds of over 25 mph!

People who criticise lack of detail in a railway. Some of us are of the younger generation with little in the way of skills cash or time!

Also the fact that to maitain electrical continuity outdoors is difficult and how much track now costs...

hmmm the british weather - or at least when its wet, windy and cold. Those in the hobby who want things perfecto and critisis and cant see the fun side. ermmm the cost too! lol

When You make something level then you go and put track on it and you find that its shifted :@ has send a few bricks flying down the garden so far and its a small garden lol =] (then again there are only a few spots on my garden railway that are ment to be flat)

Snobbery - to me anyone who really loves what they do - be it running £4,000s' worth of engine or £2.50s' worth of motor, chassis, blutack & cardboard are alright be me happily seems a very rare thing in 16mm, most are just as potty as I am - er I mean share the same sense of humour

That's quite interesting - Derek Wiggins was saying something similar in SMT but it's not completely dead - you only have to look at the Gordon Diplock entries and Charles Firth's Massage Coach to see that!

the massive gaps in between LGB check and running rails on points (though this is cheaply rectified).

....the price of nice engines!  As much as I like my stationaries on wheels, I would like an engine with fixed cylinders!

That Lineside Delights has stopped producing (due to healt problems) as i just want at least their station kits.

Damp and cold weather in the winter and pre-summer as i want to airbrush and continue the build of my rolling stock but cant.

Winters so cold that your points and loco gas tank freeze and prevent you running steam in the cold!

Other than that I find it quite hard to find things I really 'hate' in our hobby. I do agree that prices are high for a lot of things, but you have to look on many of them as an investment. Most things will serve you well for many years and often either accumulate in value or be at least worth what you paid for them.

I nearly had to sit down for a breather when I saw how much a 2nd hand Brandbright passenger railcar was going for at Stoneleigh. I built mine from a kit in 1991. It was a lot of money to me then - taking up my Christmas present fund and some savings, but it's now worth more than double what I paid for it. I'm not selling it though, it's my favorite lazy item - plonk it down and you have an instant passenger train!
