White is a bit boring, cream generally looks better........ When first introduced, our Walker railmotors were royal blue and silver, which looked very smart when clean. See link. Silver paint weathered quickly back then and I always add some white to cut back the shine when painting a model silver.

For the waist lining on your model, I think I'd paint both raised bead lines the same colour used on the uppers and fill in between them with black, which will give more definition to the colour separation.

I would go for Cream has well Jim, with black lining. It would stand out more and look a lot better than white I think anyway.

Cream upper panels as per the GNR(I) - that well known railcar pioneer - would be yummy.

Oooh, I'd missed this - I love a good Faller railcar conversion, and this one's fantastic, it looks brilliant, love the skirts. My own Faller railcar was just a very simple repaint job about twenty years ago, but I'm still very fond of it, and it's my wife's favourite.

The colour scheme plans sound good to me - and I'd agree about picking out the lining. It's not too difficult if you start with the middle - as I recall it was a case of taking it slowly but not too cautiously... If you're going for blue and cream, how about white/black/white lining?

The Railbus is now painted and I have made a start on the lining. I managed about 10 mins before the eyes went crossed and the shakes set in. I think this may be a long job.

That orange lining colour really sets off the body colour. Should look really good when you've finished.

The colours are a little off in the pics. The blue is slightly lighter and the lines are a cream colour.

I am not sure if I will paint the rest of the window frame cream as well, or just the edge.

As the gazing fits on the inside too much light colour might accentuate the thickness of the plastic.

Comments/suggestions please.

I think you're right about only painting the edges. Inset window panes would be a nightmare unless you know someone with a laser cutter. Even then, fixing them in place would be a real challenge (I'd end up with gluey thumb prints on each pane, for sure).

Jim, if you are using a paint-brush for the lining it will take forever and possibly be a little shaky.... depending on what you have in your mug at the time!
It might be an idea to try an acrylic lining pen with felt tip. I bought mine at The Range (white or gold in stock) but I believe there is a wider choice of colours on-line from other suppliers.
It is possible to run the tip against a rule or follow the raised edge around your windows.
