Excellent James, the Bulldog is very tempting...

The railway is looking wonderful James, the whole thing looks well established and fits into your garden well with good access and room to spare for socialising too!
I watched Ace's video and it captures your line perfectly.

My goodness you've made a cracking job there James. I thought I was into heavy civil engineering but you're certainly giving me a run for my money!.

I love the way your line has developed, you've made great use of the space available. I really love your paving too, proper job!

Your planting is great and clearly becoming well established.

Well done and please keep the pictures coming to inspire us.

I seem to be cursed this year with railway building - I either have awful weather on every day off work or if its warm, my back plays up and I can't work. Anyway, a few little jobs have been done and my other workshop based projects are coming along so I guess I mustn't grumble. I have updated a few of my forum threads with goings on.

My Brother made this rather smart sign for my birthday - not at all scale but I like it so its close to the track:


Bare concrete blocks around the coaling stage have been covered with concrete and coal dust mix:


Ashbucket station has been ballasted and the track weathered with engine oil and coal dust mix to stain the ballast:



A collection of soldiers (swift sixteen) have made an appearance - I learnt the hard way that the only way to keep figures in place is to drill the legs and the base and epoxy in a 2mm pin - which is glued into the concrete base 50mm deep!

The ballasting looks a treat, what material are you using please? (I'm just about to start mine). Your line is looking really good, I love the coaling area. Keep up the good work and keep us fed with the great pictures please.

Great update James - loving the ballasting -especially the oily mix.

I also have been drilling into the legs of my people for the very same reason - I have a passenger MIA after the winds - I can see his feet but he's wedged down between two fence panels - I've rung the mines emergency team and asked them to come and dig him out!

I use Truegrip 68 from here (I buy the sample bags) I also use other types for edges of track, whatever I think will suit.

DOH! yes the wind is a killer! I had 2 different neighbours return the Ashbucket station sign - a redesign seems to have sorted that

Mini update....

I had been bothered for a few weeks that I hadn't steamed my Regner Konrad in a while so I dusted it off and had a lovely hour long run on the skip train....and made a little video for you guys. Sorry for the shaky hand held shot in the first 20 seconds or so.
