The Lynmouth and Barnacle Bay Railway was the host of the last North West Area Group steamup of the year today, my first visit to this line for 12 months. A lot has changed in that time, the two small sheds have gone, to be replaced by one big shed which has a circuit round it, with a complex junction connecting the shed circuit to the main circuit. The gradients has also been reduced again and track work makes the line much more useable. Here are some pics of a cracking afternoon
Making advantage of the fact that I arrived first, Russell took a run before things got busy
Russell takes its train across the viaduct
Russell passes one of the many little halts on the route
The Jack from the Ingleton Mountain Railway takes the line round the outside of the shed
PTLRcecil brought along Konigs Tun which ran much better then 12 months ago
A new NWAG member came along with his Roundhouse Billy
Kongis Tun pauses before the viaduct
It really was Garratt fest, as PTLRcecil also brought along Scafell, ready to return to the ANLR, whilst PTLR sam brought Black Combe with him, 3 locobox garratts in the same place must be pretty rare!
Accucraft Joan visiting from the Windy Ridge Railway, this loco was brand new from Trackshack only a few days ago
The three Locobox Garratts, Konigs Tun and Scafell double heading, both of which had previously owned by Barnacle Bay Charlie, the builder of the L&BBR. The difference was that under different ownership these locos now work.....!
Many thanks to Barnacle Bay Charlie for a fantastic afternoon
