http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/301020522854? ... 1439.l2649

just won a peppa pig van as a toy/rail van for my 3 year old/me to have a play with using a motorised chassis and will be radio control.

Its diffrent to the rat as another member has...
I had this idea after visiting another railway at the weekend who was going to use a peppa pig camper van

That's a nice bit of fun! Brig it along to somewhere where I'm at and it can meet The Rat!

I really need to finish the camper as it's meant to be a Christmas present.
If it can be made full scale it can be made 16mm

Think, following our discussion, I'm going to keep it simple and order a hglw chassis to bolt the top onto. Seeing how well your hglw loco ran I was impressed.

Is that like this one?

I've got one of those awaiting turning into a quirky inspection vehicle, it's sat on my bedside table (can't remember why there in particular...) for about 6 months now, really must crack on with it.

I've purchased a Busted Bricks (as was) chassis for mine too, although I may use an old IP one I've got knocking around and buy an HGLW body kit for the chassis instead.

Good luck with the Peppa conversions - looking forward to pictures!

Quite cool, isn't it? I'm gonna stick a Cambrian radiator on the front of mine in place of the spare tyre I think, unlikely to need that...

I got the van as I didnt want to be seen as copying you..but then i just won a peppa pig car and the breakdown truck for a few pounds so am thinking there of motorising the breakdown truck to pull the car..... god some people are gonna hate me now..
keeps kids happy especially as they are the future garden railway people but then my railway was never going to be scale as i do like the thompson twins and trumpton

Ooh, I think hate's a bit strong! I really do count rivets from time to time but still appreciate a bit of fun - hence being unable to resist the camper can when I saw it in the Butlins gift shop... Interesting you should mention the Thompson Twins - they're the planned passengers for my inspection car (McDonalds freebies), visiting Board of Trade types perhaps?

Yes, would look nice in Chocolate and Cream Brian, but I'm not planning much of a repaint, would be difficult to do round the printed windows I think...

Where are others planning to hide switches and batteries??

Andrew.

So my hglw chassis arrived today. Have trimmed the body so it will fit over the modified chassis (needed shortening) hopefully get it finished tonight.... Photos to follow(when kids aren't trying to see what I'm doing)

Go on kids, go to bed! I wanna see the finished photos! In part so I can pinch the ideas of course, maybe over the Christmas hols...

Good luck with it,

Andrew.

I thought I had seen a prototype for this and found it in Nick Anchen's book on Victorian narrow gauge in Australia on the Whitfield line.

See this link for a photo. Apparently it was used to carry the mail towards the end of the life of the railway.

Brilliant!

It looks like you've removed the rear seats to fit batteries and a switch - lift off the roof to change direction? A photo or two of how the chassis fits into the body would be much appreciated if you get the chance - I was thinking of simply opening out the four holes that will be left by the wheels into one big hole, but maybe there's a better way?

Anyway, great work, I'm sure the kids will love it.

Thanks,

Andrew

That's exactly how I did it. Whole thing is attached by 1 screw in the centre (although it's not needed). I plan to make it rc so having the switch inside shouldn't be a problem.

Excellent, thanks.

I doubt I'll install R/C but my line's a conventional "round the lawn" type so I can put a switch in the side that's not usually visible.

I'm suitably inspired now, really must get on with it...
