Insulated wheels for HGLW kits ?

Post by OLD.GUY » Sun Oct 06, 2013 3:35 pm

Hello !
I built my first HGLW flat bed wagon. It's a dream to make it!
But I need insulated wheels for all my next kits because my layout is track powered.
Any idea? Thanks for your help.

Greatly depends on whether you are interested in metal or composite wheels. Probably cheapest composite wheels, glass fibre reinforced nylon moulded, are those from Binnie which are a tight fit and easy to adjust. Ideal for small stock and are used by Swift Sixteen for their kits. Supplied in various spoke/disc patterns too.

All metal wheels running on insulated bosses to fit 3mm axles are available from a number of suppliers. Very much a case of you pays your money and makes your choice. However, Essel Engineering my particular choice, do supply superb insulated wheelsets.

I found a very simple solution : one day for track powered trains, one day for HGLW trains... :D
