Ebay and its sellers

Post by andy » Tue Oct 01, 2013 8:54 pm

This maybe off topic a little but may help others has its just happend to me.

Around 6pm today i saw on ebay an accucraft baguley for sale at a buy it now price, i contacted the seller and agreed the sale. clicking on the buy it now price and going to paypal account wanted me to pay for it there and then, but having a new card ive left it at work. not thinking anymore about it i sent the chap a message saying it be first thing in the morning as agreed. within in 10min he sent me a message  saying its just been bought again on ebay, even tho i just bought it and clicked the buy it now price.

Can ebay and/or the seller do this as when you click the tab "buy it now" its agreeing to a contract of purchasing item?

If it was the only one he was selling, it would dissapear off of ebay as soon as you purchased it, regardless of wheter you paid there or then or not. The only way he could have sold it after you bought it was outside ebay.

However if it was multiple items it would stay on there until all were bought and if the guy had miscounted the amount he had in stock and had less than he thought, he would sell to the first people who paid.

Hope this helps.

The seller can specify "immediate payment required" when selling a Buy It Now item. From what you write it sounds like he did this, in which case the transaction is not completed until that payment is made. If the intending buyer does not make the payment then anybody else can jump in and buy the item.
