Jinty Found-Thought Lost, info sought.

Post by Big Jim » Wed Sep 04, 2013 12:58 am

I have just un-earthed an 0 Gauge Jinty live steamer that I thought I had lost years ago after my first divorce.
I remember that I never managed to get it to work properly, if at all.
I have a feeling it may have been made by a company called Brunton.
It is a single cylinder, slip eccentric meths fired engine.
I know it is a long shot but does anyone know anything about these engines?
If at first you don't succeed, use a bigger hammer!

Is it one of these: http://www.stationroadsteam.co.uk/stock ... /index.htm, made by "Burton Leech"? Remember running one once in a back yard in Aberystwyth. If so I note that Tony Willmore (Rhos Helyg) has dealt with a couple of these recently.

I had one.

Went like the absolute clappers. And with a tendancy to hurl itself off the track.

Back to ebay it went.

A bit rude of me to ask, but what sort of money did it make and are they sort after?
As it stands it is no use to me. I could use the works and put a new body on it but if people are actually looking for one as it stands it seems a shame to mess about with it if it could go to a loving home.

Mine cost £100.

Single cylinder. Good runner. But, as I say, bloody fast.

Not exactly fine scale but it did look good heading some O gauge open wagons.....

Some were also fitted with mild steel piston and valve rods that corroded and allowed blow-by on the glands.

Graham Stowell often used them for the basis of unusual locos.

Got to Anys garden railway page (as per link below) and scroll down and you will see some of Mr Stowells creations.. this may help
