Track Curvature

I currently live without a garden, a bit of problem yes, but I want to buy some set track so I can easily put it together then take it back up again.

My problem is I have two Aster Hobby Gauge 1 locos. I looked up the minimum radius and it said 2m; I'm guessing that's 2 meters and not a code for something. They do sell set track but it's 3 meter radius which is a bit large. They also sell R3 Radius points, which has confused me because R3 is 1195mm radius. Does this mean I can buy R3 curves?

Additionally can anyone advise me on where I can buy set track, either Gauge 1 or G Gauge. As long as the radius is wide enough for the locos.

R3 is a shade under 1.2 meters in radius so that is 0.8 meres too tight for your Asters, so that is a no go.

Basically you are looking for a minimum radius of 6'6.5" real, or two metres in monkey measurement.  I would take a look at Aristocraft track - preferaby the aluminium 'European tie spacing' stuff.  I think Trackshack carries it. Well, they used to anyhow!

You have to watch Aristocraft track because sometimes they give the diameter not radius.  I got caught with some 10' diameter track, when I actually wanted 10' radius, but no matter as it came out in the wash. Oh, and been Yanks, they usually give the radius or diameter in inches which is bloody annoying unless you have your 12 times table memorized. Go with the Aluminium - it is cheaper, but it is not quite so resilient to being trodden on.

If you are in the UK, or the EU, try Trackshack on the Isle of Man.  The guy who runs it has a good selecton and knows his stuff and Manx Post ships stuff faster than poo poo off a shovel.
