Hi guys,

I'm needing to buy some 1.5mm (60 thou) plasticard but need large sizes min 700mm x 700mm for a project I'm planning. I've no idea where to find such stuff though. Any help?

It is used for making signs among other things and you should be able to find a plastic wholesaler that stocks it in large sheets, along with other plastics like acrylics, vinyls, PETG, etc. etc. Not all will deal direct with the public, but you should be able to find one that will handle cash sales.

I buy mine locally (Aust.) from a warehouse in a nearby industrial suburb. The 'small' sheets they stock are 1400x800mm in the same thickness range as you get in the hobby shops, but for a fraction the price. They also do larger sheets, but they won't fit in my car.

If you have a local signmaker, he may be able to point you towards a local supplier.

Google is your friend........ A search for 'HIPS plastic sheet UK' turned up many pages of potential suppliers.

They won't know what plasticard is, as that is Slaters trademark and only known in the hobby trade. The correct name to ask for is high-impact polystyrene, also known as HIPS in the trade.

I bought some bigger than usual sheets of plasticard from Slaters at an O gauge guild show. The usual stuff just the sheets were a lot bigger than usual.
