Afonglas and Nant Llwyd Railway Summer Steam 2013
Afonglas and Nant Llwyd Railway Summer Steam 2013
Today was the first steamup of the year on my Afonglas and Nant Llwyd Railway for the North West Area Group, and having had to wait since March to hold an event due to various circumstances, it almost looked like the event would be washed out by the weather. Luckily, it turned out nothing like as bad as forecasted, with only a couple of showers late on but the gusty wind meant that everyone was on the lookout for trains being blown over. Here are the pics
PTLRcecil bought along a trio of black locos lined out in Penrhyn style, first out was Black Beauty with the PTLR slate waggons
Black Beauty passes Snowdon waiting with a passenger train, yep James had once again travelled across the country
Matt's Lawley at Afallen
And pulling into Afallen, note how I sent out a goods rake instead of a second set of passenger stock, mainly to minimise the risk of a train being blown over
Next out for PTLRcecil was Jenny, one of the few PTLR locos never to have visited before
Meanwhile, LMSjools had Sir Luke, the Worlds Most Powerful Mamod running round with the freight set
The third of Simon's locos, Lesley Kay exits the tunnel
Visiting from the Forest Fields Railway was Hartside
Lesley Kay rounds the headland
Hartside crosses the pond
LMSjools also bought along the latest loco to come into his ownership, and as is tradition wearing David William nameplates!
Black Beauty out this time on the passenger train
Thinking about it, this is the first Fowler to visit the ANLR after nearly 6 years of holding steamups
Inevitable mamod double header
Ayepad Ed bought Mountaineer, so this double header had to be run as well
Mountaineer leads Russell into Afallen
Finally Criccieth Castle got in on the act with the last train
Cricc brings the last train down the line
A huge Thank You to all of those that attended, hopefully James will post some of his pics, some of those he showed me before he left were stunning!

"What the hell is that?"
"It's a model icebreaker sir."
"It's a bit big isn't it?"
"It's a full scale model sir....."

He's discovered this thing called "Photo Bombing", he seemed to be quite enjoying it!Mr. Bond of the DVLR:85065 wrote:Loads a locos... Was the killer bunny "Hanging around" all day?
If I'm not completely nackered tonight after chasing things down to Exeter and Bristol, I may add some photos of mine
