Best method of attaching works/name plates on a hot Mamod...

A very popular starting point for Live Steam. With their low cost comes a number of problems which can be discussed here

Best method of attaching works/name plates on a hot Mamod...

Post by Spule 4 » Sun Jan 27, 2013 4:37 am

What is the best way to attach works and name plates to a Mamod since the body work gets hot from the pot boiler and/or fires.

Thanks!
Garrett

I have had some good results with heavy duty double sided sticky foam pads. The ones that Sellotape make I have been found to be the best. The actual spec sheet for them says that they withstand temps from -40 °C to +80 °C. You used to be able to buy them in black but they only make them in white now. Not sure if you can find something similar in the US?

I use double sided carpet tape which seems to work. However just make sure you do not touch/handle the name plate whilst the loco is hot or the name plate will move and come off the tape.
