Forester Pullman

Post by Red Rock » Mon Jul 16, 2012 4:45 pm

Hi all,
Over the past few months I’ve been building a set of IP Engineering coaches. We decided to call the set the ‘Forester’ and they are the CFR’s Pullman set. They are nothing like Pullmans really but they’re called that to insinuate a more upmarket coaching set and are much better than anything else on the railway! Each coach has working lights so is ideal for evening running! I’m pretty pleased with how they have turned out, this was my first real go at building any kind of kit.

So working from the front to the back. The first coach is a VoR Brake

Next is an Atlantic Observation which has been cut down to a flat end.

Followed by an Atlantic Buffett coach.

Then at the rear of the set is another Atlantic Observation unmodified.

A couple of pictures of the full set on show here with my Roundhouse Russell.

Plus a video of them running on their first running day!

Nice rake of coaches :)
"What the hell is that?"
"It's a model icebreaker sir."
"It's a bit big isn't it?"
"It's a full scale model sir....."

A splendid rake of coaches. No doubt the passengers are paying a special supplement to travel in Pulman style.

I've always wanted to make a Pullman carriage :( the Welsh Highland one to be precise. One day...
Anyways! :) I did make the livery of my Atlantic buffet car more "Pullman" like.

I think yours will still be the better of the two - the one I'm starting with is a "basket case" rescued off eBay last year (and I'm still sanding the paint down! )

Very Nice. My coach kits didn't have the Atlantic boards included with them. I guess it would look a little odd added them to mine will all the transfers on it anyway!!! :)

Thanks!! :) yours are probably more pleasing to look at, mine tends to run with GWR Rheidol carriages and marroon panalled ones, so it looks abit odd...
My boards had no sprue, they came loose, so I guess IP forgot to add them into your "goodie bag".
I've also noticed you used a "Silver Lady" nameplate on the modified obs. An idea to use mine up now! ;)
Cheers!

Thanks very much! How long do you think it will be before some 'Similar ideas' start appearing!!?? I'll post some more pictures when we have an evening running session and they are fully lit.

Thanks to everyone else for positive comments!! Much appreciated.
Happy Days!
