No idea yet, I would love to having very much enjoyed railfest 2004 but uni work and lack of ambition from my dad to go is meaning I might not. Anyone that does go remember to look out for Synolda!
"What the hell is that?"
"It's a model icebreaker sir."
"It's a bit big isn't it?"
"It's a full scale model sir....."

Sorry for the delay, but here are my pics from the first day of railfest.

The queue at 9:00 (I got there at 8:30).
After waiting ages for the staff to get organised, we were finally let in, and This is what awaited us inside.

Overall, a really great day, although a very expensive one. Still, the beer was nice, and a got a nice little book on Henry Greenly.

Blimey! That's one hell of a selection of locos- some famous and some not so too.
Nice to see the industrials getting a look in- the Rev. Boston's Peckett is an unusual thing, the Monster is well, a monster and the as one of the last steam engines in regular revenue earning industrial use in the UK it's great to see the Castle Donny Power Station RS&H getting a share of the limelight.

The Rev. Boston's Teddy was on shuttle duties with Truro. It certainly made quite a noise when it was it's turn to do the work.Endless, Nameless:71473 wrote:Blimey! That's one hell of a selection of locos- some famous and some not so too.

Synolda sadly wasn't in the best of fettle. Someone messed up her valve gear the last time she was in the works at ravenglass, and so sounded distinctly off beat. I'll see if I can get a video of her up on YouTube.

No, she's going back to bury after railfest for completion.ste234:71510 wrote:Is Scotsman finished?
No offence to the people who've worked on her, but she did look a bit of a sorry sight, with her valve gear and most of her fittings missing. Looked more like a cosmetically restored Barry wreck than the NRM's flagship loco.
