Shogi sends many thanks all his well wishers :D
Meanwhile, back at Pentrich Sidings, after its strip-down at Brinsley Lodge, the W&L's "
other" Kerr Stuart has been receiving some attention.
I decided that the best place for the battery pack would be in the saddle tank, with the base fixed and the top removeable for access.
The longitudinal square section holds the bottom section of the boiler and base of the tank in place (and will also be filled with lead shot for ballast) and is fixed in place against the front cab sheet and the vertical square section at the front of the loco.
This has been extended to the top of the smokebox to provide extra resistance when the tank is removed
and help support the white metal chimney.
The base of the smokebox has also had "L" section fitted to help fix it to the running chassis securely.
At close of play today, it's starting to look a bit like a loco
The "ghostly" look to the (temporarily posed) chimney is a fresh application of fine grade Miliput, ready for sanding to finish off removing the moulding and joint lines of the four piece casting.
Decision time now, as to whether it's worth trying to find a cheap ESC (which would fit in the boiler section) and go R/C, or just fit a 3 way switch for simple manual control?????????
