To compensate for the height difference you could remove the floor above the bogies and fit a false one as original. I use swivel chopper couplings pivoted inside the buffer beam so they turn with the coach and not the bogie.

Wow, they look fantastic, I've got one of the IP non bowed bosiders in a quasi FfR 1950's livery (without the red ends, some people seem not to like this!), lovely kits to build, i'm about to do one of the bug boxes for my uncle
