And here finally are some pictures of the finished article. Lined, detailed and sprayed with a protective coat of silk varnish to stop the lines wearing off

Steamed her on blocks last night for the first time and this Saturday will be attending my first area group steam-up!

Oil can on the other side - painting the lines took bloody ages but I'm quite happy with the results, even if the design is very simple:

Now that does look nice! I may possibly have lining simular to that on my lady anne while shes green at least! I also like the oil cans etc, they bring the loco to life more i recon!

the gas regulator was from Acme Engineering. The plastic one is easy to remove but the replacement requires the flat part of the shaft to be extended right to the top (previously there was just a flat part where the little grub screw sat) as the moulding of the replacement has a cut-out that has to slide onto the shaft. It was easy enough to do with a small file

I think i might actually remove the gas regulator and shorten the shaft at some point as the handle does seem to sit a bit too high in the cab as it is, which would require more filing, but I think the result would be worth it

I think the next job is to fit a steam whistle with RC. That could be a nice challenge!

Well please do post up what you do, what you use and how you do it as I was thinking about doing that to mine, but had no idea how to even start.

Seeing how you do that would be nice, as ive got 2 spare mamod whistles that ive been thinking of adding to my Edrig possibly at some point!

Was looking at the DJB whistle for edrig - looks nice, but not sure what to do about the fake whistle already fitted to Ragleth. It's easy enough to remove the brass part, but the bracket would be unsightly and I'm not sure how i would remove it or hide it, or if the new whistle might somehow fit through it?

Also, the cab is pretty packed - their clearly isn't space for another full size servo, so how to activate the whistle is a bit of a mystery too - it must be possible, there seem to be some pretty small micro servos on the market now that might do the trick?

I enjoyed reading this thread as I had Tag's Live steam workshop in one hand and a spanner in the other at the weekend. I feel confident to give Edrig a makeover now.
