Well the boiler failed at the MHLR with the bottom nut on the gauge glass having crumbled away for some reason! It was sent back to Germany to get the last bits out of the thread (I have no metric taps to do that) and to fit a new one.
So I took the opportunity to repaint the frames and a few other bits to make it look a little less German. I bought some black paint names "coke" and after disassembly sprayed away. I am a little disappointed by the colour which seems a tad too grey to me. I also cut a whole in the footplate for access to the gears underneath so I can oil without flipping the loco up side down. Because of this the insides of the frames can be seen so these were left prototypical red. I haven't repainted the footplate yet due to the wrong colour paint. Should I repaint the frames a better black or do you think it looks ok?
Levers and hand wheels picked out in red
The access hole in the footplate
New red cranks and that grey black colour...
On reflection the colour has tonned down as it dried.

I used a spray paint from "Montana Gold" I think they are designed specifically for the graffitti artist. They are probably the most eco friendly spray paint you can get, cover excellently, dry quickly, are very hard wearing, sticks to anything and never drips. It stands up to high temperatures well as well!
Unfortunately these paints seem very valuable to local youths, I have had about 100 pounds worth of paint stolen from my shed over two different occasions.
