Been also making lots of little malt sacks to go in them. About 2/3 will be full 1/3 will be empty. Each is made of linen that looks like hesian, was LASER cut out and stuck together with Copydex. Then I made a LASER cut /engraved stamp out of ply wood and using an ink pad the words "SNAPE MALTING'S FINEST BY RAIL DVLR is printed onto each, you can't read all the words on each sack but that adds to the ageing of them. Then each on to be filled is filled with rice and the top is then sewn up to give a "draw string" look to it and tied off. The top is cut off and everything is neatened up and voila!

One sack. I've got 150 to make and this is how far I've got:

You see all the little circles on the sides? Well they are slowly being covered by little plastic dots in an activity I can only describe as [sarcasm] riveting [sarcasm/]

Riveting is done on two of the three. Now onto painting!

Trying to buy some wheels and axle boxes for these. To fit the three wagons with wheels and axle boxes from IP as I normally do is now 27 pounds! I might go for AnDel wheels with Cambrian axle boxes but then you loose the lovely clickety clack of the wheels on the rails. They will look nicer however... What should I do???

As your entering into the competition I would go for the andel wheels and cambrian axelboxes because as you say they look better and looks is everything!

Right, heres how the painting is going:

OFcource muggins here didn't paint the raised up bits before gluing them on so it takes me 2 hours per wagon to paint on all the black with a brush!

Makes for a lovely looking rake - and those knots are impressive

One complaint - you can't see the interior roofing detail from the photo's. Having seen it in person I feel you should share it with the masses!
