Gas Cans

I think I have some small cans of butane somewhere, and plan on using them with Anna.

If memory serves me right, they have a small steel spigot to release the gas, but for fitting the special adapter do I remove it or can I place it over the top?

I can get a picture of the cans in a minute once I have finished my donut!

When I push it on over the top, you can hear the gas escaping. Although the adapter cannot reach the base of the spigot

i dont think you can use those cans.

you want the ones with a thred on the top.

or

as i found out from silly billy, lighter gas cans, as the nib of the can fits into the gas tank, well .. it at least does on edrig, not saure about other locos

While what Andy has said is correct, I'm not sure whether the spigot on your can can just be pressed to the nippple, like on lighter fluid cans.

When I bought a gas conversion for a Mamod when I first got into the hobby, I bought a can with that type of spigot on. Theres no way of using it. I now just use a can of Colman's B+P mix with the screw thread on it...

Presumably I can only get the cans with the screw thread from a camping shop?

I may try what Will said and see if it will fill up the gas tank without an adapter, slim chance though that it will...

Just tried it and guess what, the can can't go over the filler as it is too big and hits the cab

If the cab were set further back, then it would appear the cans would work ok without an adapter

You need the cans with what is known as a 'EN417' fitting.
