A quick steam up

Post by Dr. Bond of the DVLR » Sun May 30, 2010 10:56 pm

A small steam up at my grandad's railway today between the showers. I had River Alde out for a run with the new carriage (which I had never run before!)

I decided to play the whole thing at half speed and think it looks and sounds rather realistic. No doubt some people will hate it.
I am considering using half speed footage for the DVLR chronicles.

Nice vid, though I must say I really don't like half speed unless used because a train is actually going too fast, and River Alde would surely have been doing a scale speed anyway :?
"What the hell is that?"
"It's a model icebreaker sir."
"It's a bit big isn't it?"
"It's a full scale model sir....."

I like slow trains. Really slow. So this is pleasing to me. Might not be to every bodies tastes. Remember that my railway is supposedly limited to 16 mph...

Trust me that loco is doing much less then a scale 16mph. I'd say nearer 5mph.....

Hmm, I suppose it is a little slow.
I'll do a little more editorial tinkering with the same footage and see if I can get a faster train with deep chuff...

Put some weight in the train, that will increase the chuff :D
But obviously a bit late for that footage

Very nice but I agree that it is a little too slow. Nice to see the MOTY coach out. Mines been sat on the shelf gathering dust! i'm sure it will get alot of use in the summer though. I will have to build another to go with it (pink or yellow?!).
