ebay.

Post by Matt » Wed Feb 20, 2008 2:52 pm

I've started this topic so that people can list here things on ebay that other people might want to buy.

This is what I've seen on ebay at the moment.

An Edrig (at the moment only £310, but my mum still won't let me buy it. WHY :( :( :( ???)

A Roundhouse fowler ( I think ACLR was wanting one of those)

And a scratch build railcar built using IP engineering materials. No reserve, and only £45 at the moment.

Also there's some mamod stock, a Talyllyn coach, and a lot of other stuff up for sale at the moment.

to anyone who wants these items, good luck.

I generally search ebay daily for 'SM32' so if this isnt in title or description there may be a few bits I miss! So if people do list anyhing on here of interest that would be great!

Not seen the edrig. Might have to have a looky at it!

Also, T&M models pretty much have permanant listings of their various garden rail buildings. Search for user 'maldivemike' to find these.

Mmm...I'm afraid I have my doubts about Ebay. In spite of the mechanisms they have to try to combat it (eg. feedback) there's still a lot of potential for you to get scammed by dodgy sellers - indeed, my Mum's had problems as a result of buying stuff of Ebay more than once now. I've also heard that PayPal is pretty dodgy. So personally, I prerfer to stick to buying things in shops or at shows, where you can can actually see and feel the product before you part with your hard-earned cash - and, indeed, where you can see who you're actually giving your cash to.

Oh dear, sorry to hear about that MuzTrem. The worst troble I had with ebay was when I'd just started with garden railways, and I'd brought some track for my line. The track took a month to get to me (from a seller in the UK) and then the seller then asked me to put a positive comment about him!

However, most of the time, I've enjoyed ebay. Without it, I wouldn't of brought my first mamod, and then i wouldn't have gotten into garden railways.

'tis a fantastic place. I've had many bargains there, and have only been the sucker twice. Also made a nice bit of dosh, infact I have a toy steam engine on there at the moment and I'm sure I'd get a lot less for it, if it were not for eBay!

ACLR, type in sm32 into ebay, and you should get the page that the fowler is on.

A few more interesting bis on ebay...

A couple of carriages from 1 seller. Look very well detailed and there has been a lot of work gone into them, but out of my price bracket! Also got a couple of other bits of stock on there (View sellers other items)

That heavily modified mamod looks brilliant :D ! It's had almost every modification done to it, and the linings brilliant :D . To make it perfect, I'd like it in a darkish green.

i agree, the lining is good, but i'm not sure about the blue. Green or maroon would work better IMHO. Might paint and line my mamod in maroon one of these days! See how well i do with Lady Anne's paint work first!

That's a great mamod! If you're wanting Welshpool coaches, best waiting for Accucraft to release their ones!

Are you still after a Lady Anne kit, because if you haven't already seen it there is a darn cheap one in the 16mm Assoc. Mag.
Oh burger! I just rang and ordered the chassis kit! Oh well, never mind! I'm not currently a member of the Assoc (re-signing up this year!) But I saw the new SMT had arrived at my uncles this morning, but as it's his it hadnt been opened yet!

I look at Ebay now and agaiin, but have given up on bidding for anything, as I have always ended up the highest bidder at the last second, and then ended up with an unknown bidder sending in an automatic bid that often is twice what the highest bid was when the auction finished. Lost out on some beautiful L&B stock, a RH Forney, and a few other things.

I would never consider selling a S/H loco on Ebay either, as I would not want the hassle of maybe sending it across the world, worrying about it getting there safely or the buyer being unhappy about his/her purchase- or problems with payment. I would prefer the buyer to physically see and try the loco and agree a price and pay with cash, so that both of us are sure of mutual satisfaction.... cuz I'm a wary old codger   although this method is not always satisfactory, judging by my first sale of a s/h loco last summer, which ended in loosing a friend :(  and regaining the loco I hadn't really wanted to sell in the first place :D

Which is a pity for Graham or anyone else far away from here, well me as well...because I have a green R/H Fowler I have been wanting to sell. I have a person who is interested in it, or a new Edrig, he hasn't made his mind up yet. He is intending to pay me a visit one of these coming weekends.

Its up to £205! Thats the most i've seen a mamod going for on ebay for some time, if ever!

Not much else on at the moment, apart from another roundhouse fowler
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ROUNDHOUSE-FOWLER ... dZViewItem

and this beautifully lined 2-car locomotion railbus!
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/16mm-scale-SM32-L ... dZViewItem

T&M models also have a few new models available which are on there. Visit their eBay shop if you're interested!

Anything else of interest i've missed?
