New boiler needed methinks.......
Right, believe me or not, this is what happened:
I've been running the railway a fair bit outside, and finally I have managed to get Britomart (My MSS) to work brilliantly with out any flaws, and since then i've given her one hell of a hammering.
Today, after about 1 1/2 hours of continual running (apart from to refill for water), something happened (i still don't have ac clue what did, but it is a mamod remember) and she managed to empty her boiler from half full in about 30 secs, and it was only when she stopped with no steam that i realised that something was up and i looked at the water gauge and there was nothing, and blew the fire out.
In the end the sight glass had melted and i replaced it with H.G.Butlers one, and I let her cool and fired her up again about an hour later. She ran but not well, with still a leak coming from the cab.
Should I:
1. Save the money, and keep the old boiler running at the moment
2. Buy a new standard boiler
3. Buy the Higher PSI boiler from dream-steam?
Or, if there is a way, to be able to make sure the boiler leak won't get worse
Help really appriciated (sorry about the life story!)

It is quite possible that the O ring has not gone back quite right or there is something under it. If you have done something more serious then there would have been water spurting out from the underside. If you can fill the boiler completely and put air into it and it will imediatly show where the leak is.

I did wonder if the O ring round the sight glass wasn't back in place properly, but I think I'm running them again, so I will see how she goes tomorrow and make my decision from that and what is said on hereDLRdan wrote:It is quite possible that the O ring has not gone back quite right or there is something under it. Oh, and before i order the water top up valve for Brit tomorrow, is it 100% essential that i have to get the water top up bottle as well, as i was thinking of using the accucraft water sryinge (mainly to save as much money as possible,) unless there is anything else that is household and possible to get hold of?
