IP eeze guards van

For something to do this Christmas I biought dad one of the little guards vans fron IP. He has just finished it and is wondering what to do about paint or varnish. If it was painted would the scored lines for the planking dissapear. I've put a pictutre below with the van behind the Simplex.

Simplex looks good, is it scratch built or is it a kit

Instead of painting it, you could go to your local DIY shed and buy a pot of the stuff they sell for garden furniture - it's water based and covers quite well. Take a look at my Hudson riding van at: http://myweb.tiscali.co.uk/mdltrly/hudson.html which was treated with it.

The good thing is that if you don't like it, you can paint over it!

I've used what MDLR has used, but for a wooden bridge I made a friend.

You could paint it, the pick out the 'go faster stripes' with a different colour.

if you use spray paints you wont lose the detail

i brush painted my stuff with humbrol and the detail is fine..

I think whether you loose the detail or not depends how thick the paint you use is.
