Post by LMS-Jools » Tue Dec 15, 2009 8:09 pm

An early morning works train tackles slippy rails on a cold, frosty and icy morning december 2009 on the Little Morecambe Steam Railway.

Brrrr! Brill steam and a nice wheel slip. You have managed to capture a real 15 inch charm somehow with that stock!

I dunno, I think the driver wasn't being aware of the rail conditions and being a bit throttle happy...

I love 15inch gauge lines and I like the larger 1/12th scale in my own garden.
There are several local 1/19th 16mm lines to run on and I have a couple of small drivers who man the Locos when I visit these lines ! lol along with a couple of items of appropriately scaled stock.

I have reverted to the name of "Little Morecambe Steam Railway" coz A/ it is a Little railway and B/ I like the name.
However it is now themed upon a mythical 15 inch guage line running from Steamtown at Carnforth through Bolton Le Sands, Hest Bank, Torrisholme and down on to Morecambe Seafront providing services to Tourists, local commuters and transport for the highly precious locally mined Quernmore Quartz QQ.

So there    lol  ;)  :D  8)

ps do come and visit sometime. :P

nice video.

On the topic of new scale for your line, are your going to rebuild your locos in 1/12 scale then?

So I see it must be something to do with Edrigs, as my one was really slippy when I ran her! (Literally, as you'll see when i finish the vid!)

That's Bonnie Dundee, the ratty's smallest loco.

It started out a a 2 foot gauge loco, then was rebuilt to the 15 inch gauge form in the picture, before being rebuilt again to a tender loco.

Sadly, dundee hasn't worked for several years now, and I don't think it will again at ravenglass.

I like the pic of the edrig, although I think that the lady ann would look better with a bigger body.

I found this on flickr. It's a 7/8ths line in America.

I rather like the look of this loco.

Huwahh, the Little Morecambe steam railway is back :D  :D  :D
I've mentioned this to Jools already but a 15 inch gauge line from Steamtown Carnforth to Morecambe actually very nearly happenend. People who remember Steamtown before it became west coast railways main depot might remember that there was a 15inch gauge railway down the west side of the site. In the mid 80's they got planning permission for an extention to Morecambe, but alas it didn't happen. If only it had, things could have worked out very differently in later years... :(
ps Where did you find that photo of Dundee at steamtown jools?
