garden railway before life?

Im setting off to College next year and you know what my biggest worry is?

how often will I be able to come home so I can mess around with my railway!

now isnt that sad!

honestly I shape my world around bloody trains, Im worried that my room wont be big enough to house a loop of track comfortabley!

Iv heard that students can somehow get patches of land on the college grounds (its a special college) Would they allow a garden railway I wondered

I lived in a small appartment at one time so I applied for an allotment at the local council......................They turned me down when I said what i wanted to plant in it.............................

Bring some of your kit with you and try and find the local mob, even if they are 32mm you'll still be able to run Caradoc! I do far more playing when at uni than when at home (don't have a railway at either).

I can fully sympahise with how sad that is because as I write, i'm at university, a short bus ride from home, and still living at home. And guess what one of the main reasons was for me picking this university?

on the other hand if you choose an intensive course like i have at uni then you can forget it untill the holidays which are very very soooon

Just make sure you sign up for lots of extra-curricular activities - add that to your workload and you'll soon find you don't have time to miss your railway!

If you do have a free weekend and want to see some steam I'm sure there'll be a railway in easy travelling distance. As a student at the University of Southampton I find Eastleigh Lakeside very conveniant!
