exFaller Railbus, Austerity&Theft

Post by Crackingjob » Mon Aug 03, 2009 9:45 pm

I picked this up via Ebay 2 years ago (£10 and inc track and some extras..is 3volt version) and finally got around to working on it....I've seen others but everyone tries to make the look like BR Units...this is a little continental????

Has got a barrel for XXX fuel and luggage rack made of wire fencing from the old Rabbit hutch and coffee sticks.

The sticks have been greyed in a vinigar mix (bottle of cheap white vinigar...leave a rusty nail in it for a few days and then remove...the soak wood or paint wood with solution.....and reuse )

Still a bit to do

Faller Rail Buses

Post by Crackingjob » Wed Sep 02, 2009 2:47 pm

ptlrcecil.......Made in England is looking for one

For the wise and penny pinching...Faller playtrains are O gauge/32mm and are great fun

They come in 3v (2 x C cells and plasic track)or 12v versions metal wheels

Recently they have been going for silly prices. A faller (inter city) rail bus 12v (with metal track ) went for £76!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and the body is the same as the 3v version. It is on the small size for 16mm ok if using G scale figures

Also there is the Old Smokey again 3v and 12v...I have both and run a 12v with a Cambrian speed controller and 9v battery.
The set if you can get it has a flat truck....the wheel set/chassis is a spare molding as used for the locos...so you could fit a motor and use that also...bargin!

Cambrian also do replacement plastic wheels...talking of which, if you look carefully you will see holes ready for crank pins...it seems faller made utility parts and used them through out the range for many uses.

There is a Diesel loco which I have (0-6-0) running on a 12v sealed battery and cambrian controller....(must photograph it)

Fallers were a favourate of early 16mm ers alomg with Big Big/Novo trains...but BE AWARE...they are often sold for silly high prices and so unless your mega rich or see a bargin I would resist temptation...if you can get one......... they are great fun!

ps...talk on another string about what loco we would like to see......i submit Faller Play Trains...lots of fun , cheap and able to modify easily

pps. Playmobil figures fit these locos

ppps. here are some of mine
