Re: Sandstone & Termite
Good to see a couple of familiar faces and of course the layout brings back fond memories.
Love the Garrett.

Re: Sandstone & Termite
Since I had the track all cleaned up from the day before, I decided to get both of my Garratts out for a double-head spectacular. The blue Garratt is seldom run - the last run was in January last year. And the LiPo battery was still fully charged.
When run together it's obvious that big blue only chuffs twice per wheel revolution, but Red does 4! That's because Blue uses the cams on the Bachmann motor blocks and there are only 2 contacts. I doubt I will go to the trouble of adding the 2 extra contacts on both motor blocks - it's just too hard to work on the monster.
Red has my own voltage driven chuff speed so is closer to 4 chuffs per revolution
So here is the video..
And while uploading to youtube I saw an old video I had made in 2013 of four Garratts running here ! Very low resolution in those days!

Great videos Greg, there is no such thing as too many Garrett videos.

Thanks Peter, and everyone else who replied.Peter Butler wrote: βWed Jan 10, 2024 2:03 pm They are magnificent beasts... wondering now whether I have room for two Garratts ?
There can be no doubt that you NEED two Garratts. Get to it! (ignore the question of room)

Re: Sandstone & Termite
The Sandstone and Termite has not run very often in the last year, due to weather, sickness and other commitments.
But finally this week, my daughter and 2 grandsons came and helped me clear the tracks.
We then spent 3 hours running trains - it was like the 'old days' when the "little" grandsons came to play.
And since the track was clear, the next day two mates came and ran their their trains. Again, it was like the 'old days' when we got together every Friday.
So here are two videos of the two days.

Re: Sandstone & Termite
Looks like it was a lovely couple of running sessions, Greg. I watched the video with my daughter and she said we need to fix our track so we can do that too! My kids love your videos, especially the Claymine Branch where the trains are all "their size".

Re: Sandstone & Termite
Looks like all involved had a great time. You are really lucky to have family and friends nearby who like playing trains. My sessions are generally solitary affairs.
