Free Software worth considering.

Post by grumpfuttock » Wed Aug 05, 2009 2:43 am

For anyone who hasn't discovered these gems yet, here are 4 useful items.

Photo Editing direct - no installation... multiple languages
If anyone needs to use a fairly sophistacated photo editor in the same sort of style as Paintshop Pro but which is FREE and does NOT need to be installed on your computer , then go to
http://www.pixlr.com
and start editing ! Works on any computer/ operative system/browser if Flash / Flash Plug-in is installed.

For 3D modelling Google SketchUp is a very good piece of FREE software which can be downloaded in a free version (number 7) from :-
http://sketchup.google.com/
To see what you can create with SketchUp, check out the gallery...

For vector graphics, desktop publishing, technical drawing and a whole lot more... Creative Docs is quite an interesting, innovative and useful program and can be downloaded at :- http://www.creativedocs.net/

Free Virtual Computer. G.HO.ST
Have your own virtual computer available anywhere which runs in a web browser. It has its own email program which is rather neat, a browser, an Office Pack, and a whole host of web applications.
Best of all, you get a free email address, and 15Gb free secure storage, which is great for keeping photo files for sharing on forums, a URL to the file is provided in the same way as PhotoBucket etc. When you log off the virtual computer everything is kept just how you left it. The only draw back is that being web based, it runs slightly slow sometimes.

Oh and to finish off, a little advert if I may :? My FREE scale calculator is still available at:-
