Now I'm sure those of you who've visited the Midlands Garden Rail Show will have seen this, but for those of you yet to visit look away now!
This is the new 0-6-4T Single Fairlie model called 'Heidi' by Boot Lane Works and boy is it a gorgeous one! First of all the prototype is one not many people have modelled, another lovely feature as well are the near scale driving wheels as opposed to BLW's more beginner friendly compromises which still aren't bad but have always been a little bugbear of mine.
I will definitely be picking this up at the National show in April (where I'll be an operator on the modular layout, so feel free to come and visit me while I run Punch and Dennis, maybe along with my newly upgraded MSS loco).

Re: Boot Lane Works 'Heidi'
I'll be interested to see how they've arranged for the large overhang at the rear. I'm assuming, on the prototype, the six wheeled drive bogie swivels in some way. I wonder if they've done that on the model.

I can only assume the power bogie does swivel like the real NWNGR prototype, along with the bogie under the cab. I've not yet seen any videos of it running, it seems not many people document the larger BLW models.

If you break the habit of a lifetime and read the instructions (downloadable from the website), all will be revealed..........
The model is designed to articulate more or less the same way as a prototype single Fairlie, or a Mason bogie for that matter.
