Vale Of Rheidol Tank Scratch Build
Vale Of Rheidol Tank Scratch Build
New forum member here…
I’m considering my next project, and I wondered if I could semi-scratch build a VoR Tank. The second hand price of the discontinued Roundhouse loco is prohibitive, but I’ve always fancied one.
Ideally I’ll use off the shelf Roundhouse cylinders, valve gear, boiler, gas tank etc, so it won’t look 100% prototypical, but I’ll scratch build the frames, body, details etc.
Does anyone know of suitable drawings of the VoR Tanks, in either 16mm scale or the full sized prototype? I’ve had a look on the internet and can’t find much.
Many thanks!

Hi
I've checked through my library of Ng books and haven't tracked a drawing down, sorry. Fingers crossed someone else will be able to help.
Welcome to the forum btw.

Thanks very much Rik.
Re: Vale Of Rheidol Tank Scratch Build
I knew I'd seen some drawings somewhere. Tracked down an article in the Model Railway Constructor 1984 Annual which includes drawings.
I'll send them via PM or email as they will still be in copyright.

I've emailed them to your personal email address in two emails. As you're still a newbie I couldn't send them via a PM.
You may need to check your spam folder in case the emails have been classed as suspicious.
Let me know if they arrive - if not we'll have to try a Plan B.

Hi Stuart
Glad to hear it. They are 7mm scale but I scanned them at 400dpi so you should be able to enlarge them to 16mm without losing quality.

Re: Vale Of Rheidol Tank Scratch Build
There are some in the magnificent "The Vale of Rheidol Railway In Detail", only £70 from the VoR shops. I picked up my own copy when I visited with a group of friends while on a week's holiday in the areaAGR_45mm wrote: ↑Sat Oct 19, 2024 9:54 pm New forum member here…
