My latest offering. While waiting for the dad of a neighbour to visit the line, I decided shoot do a fairly straightforward video - a view from the guard's van as the pickup good wandered down the line. I've not done an onboard video for a while and I'm please with the result - particularly as it was filmed using a £25 action camera

Veery nice Rik, thanks. Its unusual to be able to see the train ahead, snaking along, and additionally I think this gives the best overall impression I've seen of the geography of your layout

Thats a brilliant view of your line Rik. It gives us a fantastic idea on how your line works so well with those sidings and tunnels with natural banking.
Thanks again Rik.
Ps, how do you get the camera fixed to a wagon. I am in the progress of making one now for my own cheapo camera, although mine wont be as interesting as yours..
If possible can you post a photo of it.

Hi Rod
Nothing more sophisticated than wedging it into the balcony on the guards van with a small block of wood to stop it slipping down. Out at the moment but I'll take a photo when I get back home

Another great video of your line Rik. Nice to see the other ore train running as the mixed goods train meandered along the line .

I always enjoy your videos Rik, the line looks great and your calm narration take the stress of life away.
The best things in life are free.... so why am I doing this?
Re: Peckforton Light Railway - Video Library
As I said - not very sophisticated

Re: Peckforton Light Railway - Video Library
I like the viewpoint looking along the train, rather than the usual front or rear view.
Can I ask what the camera is please?

It's an AEE Lyfe. A sort of GoPro rip off. Mine's around 5 years old so old tech
There's a new one on eBay at the moment for £30 .....

Thanks. Tempting, but I think the money would be better spent on a house with a suitable garden first!ge_rik wrote: ↑Fri Jun 28, 2024 7:36 am It's an AEE Lyfe. A sort of GoPro rip off. Mine's around 5 years old so old tech

It's been a while since I posted a video - basically, because the weather has been so ~@##**%$ awful that I've not been able to get out into the garden for the three consecutive days I really need to run a decent operating session.
Hope you enjoy this latest offering

Always enjoy seeing your railway Rik. Also I worked out a while ago that the Hunslet uses frame and cylinder blocks from the PDF version stuck on the outside of the main frames, hence the straight smokebox compared with the real 3ft examples (as they have curved smokeboxes).ge_rik wrote: ↑Fri Sep 20, 2024 7:39 pm It's been a while since I posted a video - basically, because the weather has been so ~@##**%$ awful that I've not been able to get out into the garden for the three consecutive days I really need to run a decent operating session.

I did manage to acquire 3ft Hunslet drawings off Steve.

Terrific. Some great sequences! Love the way the signals ‘bounce’ as they return to ‘danger’ (as they do).
