VERY nice! I particularly like the wheel for emptying the hopper...

I was watching one of Rik's videos the other day, and think they're my favourite of his stock, great to see you building one too.

As a young teenager, possibly younger, I was defeated by a Dundas 009 kit of one of these - perhaps I need to return to challenge my nemesis, but in 16mm this time?! Col Stephens managed the Snailbeach and the WHR, so maybe I can justify one on my line?!

Thats the joy of working with HIP and using a razor saw blade to make it look like wood. You can get some really realistic effects so it can look like old weathered wood.

I have been active on the Forum recently but added nothing to this thread for a month or so. In the meantime I saw Presili Chris's resin printed Lister D, both on the Forum and in real life at a recent garden meeting. It is an impressive piece and others are available from the same supplier on-line.
I purchased two 1:19 scale engines to form a wagon load and made wooden pallets for them to be secured to....

The trucks are separate items and can be scribed to give a wood grain effect. There probably is a standard manufacturers colour for each engine but a search in Google shows a variety of colours on restored ones, so I just chose one at random. Closer inspection shows several additions to the 3D prints can be made... fuel pipes, starting handle, spark plugs and cables etc. so I have attached some brass rod to represent these....

They are roped down onto the pallets for transporting on my wagon.

The two donkey engines make for a good load . I like the way you have created the wood grain on your wagons using the razor saw teeth to scribe the plasticard. Will there be a folded up tarp in the wagon as well ?

Thanks for pointing that out Rod, you were absolutely right! My excuse was that the engines were being delivered after full restoration so new, clean rope seemed appropriate..... wrong! The pallets have also been toned down....

I'm attracted by the unusual, in case you hadn't noticed, so when Preseli Chris showed me his (grow up!) I naturally investigated the website for others.
They are superb items and make very nice loads.
The wagon is scratch-built using some '0' gauge whitemetal chassis sides with ball-race bearings inserted. The body is HIP painted with Citadel acrylics and finished with matt lacquer. A comment by Chris, just a few posts ago, inspired me to make a folded tarpaulin to place in the wagon, which would have been standard equipment in its day.....

I didn't want to say really, because your the "Master" builder in my opinion.
I do try and come up to your standards, but I fail most of the time. Still I do enjoy scratch building to see what I can achieve.

Anyone who has read through the earlier pages of my ramblings might recall my fairly regular reference to the use of SBR, a bonding agent, which I used to stick crushed stone and crushed oyster shell as ballast and ground cover.
Well, I have discovered another advocate for its use in making things stick.....



Unfortunately, I had no sponsorship for my efforts, but I still recommend its use.

Gets me thinking about using it on any building I can make for the wall, especially may try doing brick or stone maybe even platforms.
