bark box

i just watch a video of a k27 amercain live steam 45mm loco fitted with a bark box has any body fitted one to edrig or Similar

Ergh, Bark box is another Yank word for chuff pipe. They do the same job so why call it a different name.

Conincidence, I asked Chris Bird (aka Mr Summerland's) who makes the chuffers (as fitted to my Bertie) if he's ever thought about making a bark box.

I do thing the 'bark box' is more of a chamber construction where as a chuff pipe is a pipe, these yanky contraptions do seem to produce a lower sound however I'm not sure that a great big 'bark box' would fit into a little narrow gauge british loco! Also I quite like the lighter chuff that is given by the chuff pipes, I think that that loud sound would be quite a drain on the ears on a small garden railway as you would never be very far away from it!

Yes, but chuff pipes still don't make a deep enough sound, whereas, if you made one to FIT inside say, a Penrhyn Hunslet, it should sound deeper like the real thing.
